What Business Owners Actually Think

Real feedback from companies managing their budgets across Australia — no scripts, just honest conversations about what works and what doesn't.

Look, we've been helping businesses sort out their budgets since 2019. Started with maybe eight clients who trusted us with their numbers. Now we're working with close to 200 companies, and yeah — they have things to say. Some of it's great, some of it keeps us up at night trying to improve. That's how this should work though, right?

The Pattern We Keep Seeing

Most businesses come to us when they're hitting that awkward growth phase. Revenue's climbing, which sounds brilliant until you realize your expenses are climbing faster and nobody can quite explain why.

It's usually around the six-figure mark when things get weird. Suddenly you've got staff, contractors, three different software subscriptions doing similar things, and your accountant's giving you that look during quarterly reviews.

The feedback we hear most? "Wish we'd started tracking this properly two years ago." Can't help with time travel, but we can stop the bleeding and build something that actually makes sense going forward.

We were hemorrhaging money on equipment rentals because nobody was tracking what we already owned. solveraniqo set up a system that paid for itself in about six weeks. Not exaggerating — we found AUD 14,000 worth of tools sitting in a storage unit we'd forgotten about.

Running four cafés means four different sets of supplier relationships, and our costs were all over the place. The budget framework they built showed us we were paying three different prices for the same coffee beans. Sometimes the obvious stuff is invisible until someone points it out.

How We Actually Help You Figure This Out

Every business is tangled up differently. We walk through these questions with you to understand where the budget's getting away from you.

1

What's Actually Going Out?

We map every single expense for 90 days. Sounds tedious because it is, but you'd be surprised what subscriptions and recurring charges are still active for services you stopped using in 2023.

2

Where's the Duplication?

Most businesses have two or three systems doing the same job. Maybe your operations manager signed up for project management software while accounting was already paying for something similar.

3

What's Seasonal vs Permanent?

Your budget needs to breathe with your business cycle. Retail clients crush it in November but July's quiet. Construction depends on weather. We build buffers that match your reality.

4

Who's Actually Approving Spending?

When everyone can spend, nobody's accountable. We help you set approval thresholds that don't slow down operations but stop random purchases from appearing on your statements.

5

What's Your Growth Buffer?

Planning to hire three people this year? Your budget needs to reflect not just salaries but equipment, software licenses, desk space. Growth costs more than the obvious stuff.

6

When Do You Check In?

A budget you review once a year is basically decorative. We set up monthly check-ins that take 40 minutes and keep you from discovering problems six months too late.

The Boring Part That Actually Matters

We're not going to pretend budget management is exciting. It's spreadsheets and category definitions and arguing about whether office snacks count as supplies or employee benefits.

But here's the thing — getting this sorted means you stop wondering where your money went. You'll know whether you can afford that new hire or if expanding to a second location makes sense right now or in eight months.

Most of our clients stick with us because we turn budget reviews from dreaded quarterly nightmares into quick monthly check-ins that actually tell you useful stuff.

What This Looks Like Next Year

We're running budget workshops in September 2025 for businesses planning their 2026 financial year. Small groups, eight companies max, three hours where we walk through building a budget framework that fits how you actually operate.

Not going to promise this fixes everything overnight. Budget management is ongoing, slightly annoying, and absolutely necessary. But getting the foundation right means you spend way less time stressing about money and more time running your actual business.

If you're in the Canberra area and want to join a workshop, get in touch before June. They fill up faster than we expected last year and we had to turn people away.
